Prints

Lino prints are bold and powerful, with clean lines, flat areas of colour, and high contrast between the paper and ink which make a bold statement.

Unless noted, your beautiful original print will be printed using Cranfield Caligo Releif Ink and on either Zerkall 145gsm or Ho-Sho 90gsm light to medium weight paper, which is Ideal for relief printmaking with woodblocks, lino or vinyl.

Each print will capture the character of the paper, the tones and texture of the ink and the depths of the carving, they are hand printed and as such, no two will be the same. For a truly unique piece of art look no further.

All the prints below can be ordered through my etsy page. You will find links under each image which will take you through to etsy where you can buy them.

No. 18 The Moon.

The Major Arcana of the Tarot. The Major Arcana's cards represent life lessons, karmic events and your spiritual journey. Representing the major aspects of your life, there are 22 cards that make up the Major Arcana.

The Moon card focuses on illusion and deception; all is not what it seems...be ware. The moon, like the moon, is linked to water and our intuition and unconscious affecting our emotions and energy. You may feel pulled to do something but is it the right thing? Take a step back and take some time.

Fascinating!

I have had a long love of the Tarot. It’s beautifully illustrated cards and insightful readings.

This Lino carving isn’t my normal Lino subject, but I wanted to try my hands at designing a couple of card prints. The other tarot Lino carving is The Sun- you can find it with the other listings.

This is for one blank ink Lino print. If you would like a hand illustrated metallic painted print, please contact me for a price. See The Sun listing for the examples.

Actual size of paper 12 x 9 inches

No.19 The Sun

Carved January 2021.

Card number 19 of the Major Arcana of the tarot. The Major Arcana represent life events that cannot be changed, unlike the Minor Arcana which relate to matters in life that you can change.

A beautifully positive card, indicating joy, happiness, and growth. It brings positive energy, warmth, vitality, purity, and strength. If you’re looking for a positive answer when you pull this card, it means ‘yes’. Traditionally depicted with a child on a white horse, the card represents the universe coming together, supporting and aiding movement) not something greater.

A change to what I normally do, I’ve long wanted to have a go at designing a few tarot cards. This is my take on The Sun. I’ve highlighted strong, bold lines of the sun, meeting the soft growth of life and nature. The change in textures, the strength of the sun shining, and the climbing and growing of the tree to the light, and the warmth and energy it portrays. The vitality of the imagery. The soft lines compliment the hard art deco lines.

Salthouse Solstice Flower June 2020

Carved December 2020.

This lovely Lino carving is taken from a picture I took on the Summer Solstice. It was a magical day for so many reasons, but none more magical than the fact we were out of lock down, by the sea where I’ve spent so much time since I was a child, and that we shared the day with my magical parents.

For me, this print is hope, renewal, light and strength. I hope that you love this as much as I do and enjoy the magic that it will bring to you.

I’ve printed it on both a lightweight white paper and a craft paper which I think works well. Both prints are printed on an A4 size and the actual measurements of the print are 6 x 4 inches.

Roots and Trees are Three

Lino carving print created 2020, finished October 2020.

I wanted to show the extraordinary roots that our beautiful, majestic trees have. So much of the beauty is under Mother Earth, or if you are lucky enough to see, spread out across the earth.

This is a print is in honour of our trees, the longest living organisms on Earth. For 300 million years they have been part of Earth, long before man came. Trees house, feed and nurture countless creatures and without them our world would not survive.

These are wonderful, magical, gentle beautiful giants.

The Linocut has been printed on a light weight 50gsm paper which picks up all the details beautifully.

Actual print size 16 x 12 inches

Marvelling Magnolias

Marvelling Magnolias is a picture of a marvellous Magnolia tree I saw at Blicklingham Hall in Norfolk.

The paper thin, but hardy petal with hundreds of intricate veins in every direction, show of a living, moving, delicate and somewhat etherial example of how incredible nature is. Whilst the detail is fine, the bold of the black and white really shows off this unique artwork, which would look amazing on a wall.

This print has taken in the region of 70 hours to complete. As the detail is very fine, it’s been printed on a lightweight Japanese Calligraphy paper. I’ve used Caligo safe wash relief ink, and an essdee soft compound roller.

Actual print size 12 x 8 inches.

Magical Meadow

An original Linocut print completed late 2019.

It is an amalgamation of meadow flowers, seed heads and butterflies. I wanted to do a piece that felt like I was in an English meadow, far away from noise and people, lying in the sun on a spring day surrounded by butterflies. When I look at this artwork print, I see calm and feel at peace. I imagine I am lying down in my magical meadow surrounded by nature in all its beauty. I hope the print takes you there too. Because of the size and the detail, this print took about 80 hours to complete.

Actual print size 12 x 12 inches.

Snow Drops at Oxborough

An original Lino carving taken from a picture I took when I was at Oxborough Hall with my parents one winter’s afternoon. It was a bitterly cold day. The sun was streaming through skeletal trees, shining in shards of warm brilliance.

The floor was a carpet of brilliant white and green of nodding snowdrop heads in the breeze, these delicate yet hardy little flowers looked so beautiful.

Actual print size 8 x 12 inches.

Gone Shelling

An original print, ‘Gone Shelling’. It’s not my usual subject, but the inspiration came from a visit to my parents when we spent a day at the beautiful Norfolk coast.

My dad found one of the shells, and near to it was the seaweed. They had such beautiful textures and intricate detail, I fell in love with them and decided to try to gather some more shells and do a Lino. I’ve used very fine carving detail for the sea which give the print texture and movement.

With this Lino you can hang horizontally or vertically, I think it works both ways as it’s rather more interpretational than my other pieces, but no less effective or striking.

Actual size of print 8 x 12 inches.

Moonlight Tree

One of my original linocut prints. I was inspired to do this piece after I saw a silhouette of a tree one Super moon. The black and white work particular well with this peice which does illuminate. The print is an eye catching design that would look stunning in any room. The initial drawing of the tree, and the carving took several weeks work to complete, but I am delighted with how it’s turned out. I hope you like this unique print too.

Actual size of print 16 x 12 inches.

From Roots Bring Great Life

An original Linocut Print from one of my original drawings. I was lucky to grow up horse riding and spending a lot of time with family In Theford forest, so I have grown up with trees and have an affinity with these beautiful beings.

This Linocut Print is about the roots of life. The beauty and strength that come from the beginnings of all life. The roots of a tree are rarely seen, and yet they span the width and depth of what you see above ground. We often say we want to connect to our roots, feel grounded, and feel one with the earth. This is where the inspiration of this print came from.

Actual print size 12 x 16 inches.

Spring Apple Blossoms

This is one of my original Lino carvings made from a drawing of my apple blossom in spring 2019. It was an impressive year for blossom. The print is of the bottom end of a branch which was heavy with blossom. A section of spring in a print. Because it’s a section of a branch, you can have it any way you like, which I’ve demonstrated in the pictures. This piece took about 70 hours, mainly because it is so detailed. I loved doing this and I hope you love it too.

Actual print size 12 x 8 inches.

Spring Hyacinth

This is an original Lino cut print from one of my original drawings of a fuchsia I had in a bulb vase. I felt the texture and design of the flowers worked particularly well on a Lino carving, and the bulbs came out especially well. A lovely print that would suit any room.

Actual size of print 12 x 8 inches.

Flurry of Fuchsias

An original Lino artwork and print. I took inspiration from my garden again for this artwork. I’m drawn to the structure and detail of flowers, and these perfect fuchsias are a lovely example of this. I’ve carved the flowers using very fine Lino cuts to show the structure of the flower, the delicate veins, and the shape.

Actual print size 8 x 6 inches.

Full Salute

An original Lino artwork and print. I drew this picture of a Nectaroscordum siculum, which is a candelabra bulb. It flowers all through May and June, has splendid architectural seedheads. I was inspired by its structure, the perfectly formed heads and its beauty. It’s a magnificent flower and the bees love it!

Butterfly Landing

An original Lino artwork and print. This sweet linocarving is of a picture I took in my garden when a Painted Lady butterfly came to visit our Buddleia bush. In effect, it’s a little print of a moment in time. Although its a relatively small print, it doesn’t lose any impact. It would also look lovely with my Hawthorne Berries and Web of Delight prints.

Actual print size 6 x 4 inches.

Hawthorne Berries

An original Lino print of Rowan Berry’s from a picture I took at a friends house, which I’ve then drawn onto the Lino. All my art comes from pictures I take, so they are completely original.

It may be small, but it’s perfectly formed and would look lovely alone, or with a series of prints. Check out my Butterfly Landing and Web of Delight which are the same size.

Actual print size 4 x 6 inches.

3 inch Square Tiles

These following are a series of 5 beautiful 3 x 3 inch linocut prints. Buy one, or all of them, have each one framed as a series, or put them all in one. Mix and match as you like. Your lovely print will be mounted on white and black paper which gives it its double border you can see on the image.

Elderflower

An original linocut print of elder flowering, which we were fortunate enough to have masses of flowers and then berries, hanging in to our garden from next door on three huge Elderflower trees. I’d not long finished this when they were chopped down. It broke my heart. This is all that remains from those lovely trees. A moment of time captured on Lino.

This is a small linocut but striking. Its a particularly poignant carving for me, and that we made some Elderflower fizz!

Freya’s Daisy

An original striking linocut print of a little daisy from my garden. I love Daisies. They always make me smile, and who doesn’t love a daisy chain? The pretty little petals also known as disk flowers, have been long associated with love. Daisies have been associated with Freya, Venus and Aphrodite. Sleeping with a Daisy under your pillow is thought to encourage a long lost lover to return. Daisies are also linked to the spring equinox and of a reminder that brighter days are coming. Daisies are edible, are used in herbal medicine, and they close their petals at night to sleep and rise with the sun. What clever little flowers.

Skeleton Leaf

An original linocut print of a leaf from my garden. I decided to reverse it so that the veins stand out, and create a skeleton effect which I rather like.

This is a small linocut but striking. It took several days’ work to cut and carve out the detail, especially working to such a small space, but it’s one of my favourites- who said size matters? Not in this case!

Eglantine Rose

An original linocut print of a wild rose after it had dropped the petals. I picked some of our wild roses from the garden that were in a little green vase on my desk. They smelled and looked incredible, there is nothing quite like a wild rose.

All that was left one morning was the hip, stamen and the sepals, I thought it was just as beautiful and fascinating to look at; an ideal subject for my next linocut in my series of tiles.

Samhain Birch

An original Linocut by me! Samhain is one of my favourite festivals as the Wheel of the Year turns marking the third and final harvest season of nuts and berries, and the beginning of the winter, the dark phase. It is the end of the cycle of birth and growth, and the point of death.

During Samhain, it is believed that the boundary between the world of the dead and the living is at its weakest. Boundaries dissolve and all is laid bare. It is a time to honour and tell stories of our ancestors and pets that have passed on to the other side of the veil, by making an offering of food and by candlelight giving thanks, and remembering their lives.

Bundles of Birch twigs were placed around the home to ward off evil.
Birch is fast growing, hence representing new life, with the first of the Birch leaves growing signals the start of spring.
